The municipality of Paragominas is located in the northeast of Pará, about 320 km from the capital, Belém. Paragominas is a 50 years old city that stands as a model of development for the State of Pará.

Its name is made of the abbreviation of the name of the states of Pará, Goias and Minas Gerais. Immigrants from these 3 states founded the city. In the course of time, with the natural vocation for growth, Paragominas attracted many businessmen and workers from the forestry, agriculture and livestock areas and also immigrants from other states like Espírito Santo, Bahia, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul and many other places.
